'Quebec', or 'American Birch' is very hard, heavy, and shock resistant. Contrasting the yellow-blonde sapwood is a reddish-brown heartwood often marked with small tight knots. Uniform grain patterns take paint and stain relatively well. The clear, quilted variety shown here is uncommon and quite valuable.
