Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa, Dalbergia hypoleuca)

Also known as Granadillo, Cocobolo is produced along the Pacific seaboard of Central America from Mexico to Panama. Of the Rosewood genus (Dalbergia) Cocobolo exhibits many of the same characteristics. An oily and very dense wood by nature, a high polish can be achieved with no additional surface finish. Cocobolo lends itself nicely to a variety of turnings, inlays, handles, etc. Available mostly in timber form.
