Quartered (Quercus alba)
Grown in the entire eastern United States, especially in the Central States and down through the Appalachian region. Golden brown with a greyish tinge in the heartwood and shades of ochre in the sapwood. Quartered or rift-sawn to expose the comb-grain, pin-striped figure of the medullary rays. Readily available as timber and veneer and moderately priced. |
