Pear Tree, European Pearwood (mostly Swiss)
This valuable hardwood is grown in the United States as well as Germany, Switzerland and France. Its color is a rosy cream with moderately fine close grains and pores. Marquetry; furniture; mechanical and drawing instruments; saw handles and rulers are among its many uses. Availability varies with region but usually in smaller quantities.
