Sometimes mistaken for hickory, the pattern in pecan is quite distinct. Belonging to the same family as hickory and walnut, pecan's natural color variation can produce a contemporary, yet casual feel. Close grain and large pores create a uniquely textured surface that will take a mirror-like polish. Generally available in reasonably sized timbers at a moderate cost.
