"Golden Elm"
This tree grows in most of the United States east of the Rockies. It is somewhat similar to ash in its color and texture and exhibits a characteristic aroma when freshly milled.
It is one of the few soft hardwoods with a strong, interesting grain character. Limited availability as timber and even more rare as veneer.
